THIS MARTIAL ART SOUNDS PRETTY TOUGH! AM I GOING TO GET HURT?

NO! CLASSES ARE DESIGNED TO PROVIDE A  SAFE INTRODUCTION INTO BRAZILIAN JIU-JITSU. OUR GOAL IS FOR YOU TO LEARN AND HAVE FUN.


WHAT IS THE AVERAGE CLASS GOING TO BE LIKE?

CLASSES WILL BE AVAILABLE TO TRAIN WITH A GI AND WITHOUT. WE START OFF WARMING UP WITH CARDIO EXERCISES, BODY WEIGHT EXERCISES AND DRILLS. ALL DONE AT YOUR OWN PACE. WE MOVE ON TO LEARNING AND PRACTICING TECHNIQUES OF BRAZILIAN JIU-JITSU WITH A PARTNER. AFTER PRACTICING TECHNIQUES YOU  MAY CHOOSE TO APPLY THE TECHNIQUES OF BRAZILIAN JIU-JITSU WITH A RESISTING PARTNER.

WHAT EQUIPMENT DO I NEED FOR CLASS?

WHEN YOU FIRST START, ATHELETIC CLOTHES ARE ACCEPTABLE. SHORTLY AFTER YOU WILL NEED TO PURCHASE JIU-JITUS GI/KIMONO. 


WHY TRAIN WITH A GI/KIMONO AND WITHOUT?

 A GI CAN BE USED DEFENSIVELY AND OFFENSIVELY. MAJORITY OF THE TECHNIQUES THAT CAN BE DONE WITH THE GI CAN BE DONE WITHOUT IT. THERE IS MORE FRICTION AND MANY MORE ATTACKS AVAILABLE TO YOUR  OPPONENT WHEN YOU WEAR A GI, RESULTING IN A EXTREAM INCREASE IN YOUR DEFENSE. TRAINING WITHOUT A GI TRAINS THE STUDENT TO HAVE A TIGHTER GAME.


I'M NOT IN VERY GOOD SHAPE. AM I GOING TO FEEL UNCOMFORTABLE IF I NEED TO REST DURING THE EXERCISES OR DRILLS?

OUR PROGRAM IS DESIGNED TO MAKE EVERY STUDENT FEEL COMFORTABLE. DURING THE EXERCISES AND DRILLS YOU HAVE THE CHOICE TO PUSH YOURSELF AT THE PACE YOU CHOOSE. 

I'M A LARGE PERSON WITH VERY LITTLE FLEXABILITY, WILL I HAVE A PROBLEM PERFORMING THE TECHNIQUES?

JIU-JITSU IS DIFFERENT FOR EVERYONE. DEPENDING ON YOUR BODY TYPE YOU WILL BE BETTER AT CERTAIN POSITIONS AND SUBMISSIONS THAN OTHERS. WHAT YOU MAY CONSIDER A WEAKNESS CAN BE EASILY TURNED INTO A STRENGTH.
